What happened to honesty?

Or integrity?  That’s what I want to know.

<political rant> I am all for free speech.  Use your freedom to tell me the truth.  Do not tell me one thing, and do a different.  No one likes a politician that lies.

Yesterday at the 6th Congressional District there were approximately 95 people who were running to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention.  Each person running was asked two questions: Are you a Republican?  Will you support John McCain at the convention?  The answers to the questions were displayed for all the voters to see and to use when casting their vote.

If I remember correctly there were only about 6 people who had said they would not support Ron Paul.  The rest all said they would support McCain.  After the votes were tallied all the people who were elected had told the nominating committee they would vote for McCain.  Then it got out that only 1 (of the 3 delegates and 3 alternates) actually supported Ron Paul.

They flat out lied to the delegates and alternates at the 6th District Convention.  They lied to over 300 people.  That upsets me.

I’m all for voting for the person you believe in.  But do not tell me you will vote for one person, but then vote for someone else.

As a convetion we decided to bind our delegates and alternates to what they told us at the convention.  So they will be forced to vote for McCain as they told us they would.  It’s a sad day when you have to force someone to do what they said they would.

What happened to honesty?  What happened to integrity?

For a good recap on the events, please read this.

  1. Hi I understand your fustration, I am a Ron Paul supporter. I have read twoo sides to this story, and what I can’t figure out is McCain isn’t the nom. yet. I have heard that these deligates will vote for him if he is the nom. But not untill then. I think it’s healthy we accually have a little arguing, I want the true conservitive as much as you do. I wish McCain was more so,but he’s not. We Ron paul supporters have been screwed by the media,by the neo-so called conservatives, and we have alot of anger. There is alot more that can be said , it’s late I’m tired and upset. We repuclicans are headed in the wrong direction, now I’m going to tuck in my daughter that I havn’t seen in almost 2 years,(due to being deployed.) GN fellow republican.

  2. McCain was not my first choice either. He wasn’t my second choice. I like Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney.

A lot of Ron Paul people don’t understand that John McCain has the delegates he needs to be the nominee. He will be the nominee at the Convention. The reason you go to the Convention is to vote for him.

But that was not my main point of this posting. My main point is each and every Ron Paul supporter told me and the rest of the delegates to the 6th Congressional District that they would support John McCain at the convention to endorse him. They all flat out lied.

We are all Republicans. We can have an open and honest discussion. But do not lie to everyone. That does not help your position and it makes you, and your candidate, look bad.

  3. Yes buddy but you’re forgetting the golden rule of politics “its always easier to ask for forgiveness later.” Tell them what they want to hear to their face and after words change it. If no one calls them out on it which normally no one does than no harm, no foul. Politics in this country is broken because we as people I feel don’t get choices. Right now becuase none of the politicians I feel have told the truth they’re full of Ideas that are in no way possible I will be voting for Ralph Nader. I would rather vote for Ralph Nader then sell my soul to Mr Clinton, Obama, or even McCain and I am a republican (Yes I know I put Mr Clinton but its true). No one has any solutions to anything and no one gives straight answers. This country is broken and none of the candidates will fix it. My prediction is the Democratic candidate will win and they will raise taxes and screw up the country even more becuase they have ludicris ideas that no one tells them are bad ideas. After the 4 years republicans will come back in and settle the country back down. There needs to be a viable third candidate before anything will be fixed. Wow what a rant. We should hang out sometime again. I am sad that I can’t make it over memorial day weekend. (weddings who would have thought)
