More Snow!

It seems like I’ve shoveled a lot of snow this year already, and today I get to shovel more.  It’s not so bad.  I don’t have to drive in it, and it meas I’ll get out of the house!  Plus the exercise will be nice after all of the Christmas Cookies.

I hope Christmas treated everyone well.  I have to say it was good for me.  It’s fun to hang out with the family.  The kids were alright, even if they did get a little loud from time to time.  The presents were fun.

I remember growing up wanting all this cool stuff.  As I grow older I look back and find that funny.  I got slippers and a sports coat this year, and I’m pretty excited about that!  I also got some giftcards, to 2 different places.  So I’ll have to figure out what I want to get.  If they were to the same place I know what it’d be.  Maybe I can talk Beth into getting something for “both of us”.  We’ll see how that works.

This week should be pretty low key.  I’m off this week, so I’ve been cleaning up from all the people here for Christmas.  Homework is also topping the to-do list.  I’m feeling good about that.  I’m doing some house projects, and making things look better around here too!  The New Years Eve is coming quickly!  No real plans yet, but I’m sure something will come up which will be fun.

That’s a wrap.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all!  Even though it’s only Christmas Eve.  Today I’ll be busy cleaning, baking pies, and getting things ready for the family to come down.  They’ll be here a few days so I probably won’t blog much.  I might try to get some pictures up though.  We’ll see how it works.

Also, don’t forget to track Santa with me today!  You can do that thanks to Norad right here.

So Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Happy Anniversary!

Two years ago today Beth and I exchanged vows.  It doesn’t seem like it’s been two years.  But if the first two are any indication of the many years to come I’m looking forward to it!

Beth has to work today, while I get to hang out at home.  Although, I’m working at home!  The maid service (aka me) at Hotel Bleess is in full swing.  Last night Beth’s family spent the night here, as a pit stop on their way to Tennessee.  So I’m cleaning up, washing towels and sheets, and everything else getting ready for my family to descend upon our place over the next couple of days.

So I’m getting things ready for Christmas.  I need to wrap a few presents that arrived yesterday.  Start preparing some food, and run a few errands. I’ll be heading out shortly to do those, hopefully to be the crowds!

So enjoy your time working today (for those at work) and some time off for those who have a little vacation!

I’m sensing a trend

People haven’t blogged much lately.  It seems like there has been one person in my “Friends” section of my Google Reader that updates on anything that could be considered a regular basis.  So to all my friends out there that are in my reader, you should blog more!

But I’ve noticed the trend.  The majority of those in my reader are also my friends on Twitter.  I’ve gotten into the twitter way of life lately.   I’d encourage ya’ll to check it out sometime.  It’s kind of fun, and it’s like microblogging.  If you text at all, or have a mobile smart phone you can do it pretty easily.  So join twitter.  And if you’re reading this you could probably find me on there pretty easily.

But until then I’ll try to do better at this blogging thing.

Podcasts

Filed under: Life in general, work

So I’ve been spending a lot of time in my car lately.  Between a quick trip to the LP on Saturday and minimum hour and fifteen minute commutes (one way) to work this week I’ve been thinking some good podcasts would be nice to listen to.

Ideally it would ideally be podcasts that are updated daily so I could sync my iPhone in the morning and listen on my way to work.  But weekly podcasts would be alright too.  I was looking through the podcast listings in iTunes and there are a lot of them.  I figured I’d turn to you, my trustworthy friends, to suggest some good listening for my daily commutes.

What a day

This morning I got up early to leave for work. I figured the roads would not be so good. It took about an hour for me to get to work.

About 20 minutes after I got there I get a call from Beth. She got in an accident. She got cut off on her way to work and slammed into the median at about 50 mph. Airbags deployed. It wasn’t so good.

Beth was fine. But the car is not so fine. We should hear back from the insurance guy tomorrow to see what we get out of it. I am pretty sure it willnget totaled. So that means car shopping could be in our near future.

In other news Christmas came early here! (see below)

IT Helpdesk flashback

So today my sister and I were chatting and she needed some help.  For your enjoyment, here’s the transcript:

Sister: questionSat. I was reading the Star Trib online and my computer started installing Antivirusok so I clicked for it to install because I thought my computer was doing automatic updates like it does a lotwelll it wasn’t and it wouldn’t fully install but now I can’t get it off my computer because I can’t find it in my Add/Remove Programs area

Sister: i want to delete the antivirus 2009 because it’s making my computer crazy
when I open up my google it gives me a warning message now
me: Do you have an Anti-Spyware program on your computer?
If so run that
Sister: hmm i don’t know, i’ll check
Sister: I wonder if when I get to work it will do something and perhaps tech services will get a warning message on their computer

me: That wouldn’t be good. Because they might take away your clicking abilities.
Sister: oh ok
About an Hour Later and a few attempts to get ride of the malware.
Sister:i guess i should activate my pop up blocker for home huh

me: That would be a smart option
Sister: once i get this fixed i will do that
man they should educate people about computers, i need to take a class i think
me: It’s really pretty simple “Don’t click on pop up windows. Period. Even if you think it looks like something good. Don’t do it.”
there’s you first class
that’ll be $225 tutition.
Sister:ok so the second one didn’t work, i’m trying the Microsoft one now, if it doesn’t work I think my computer will have to be turned over to tech services

me: which might have been the best option all along. They might have programs to clean it up anyway.
Sister: but you told me they would take away my clicking
i thought that was a bad thing
me: That’s an IT joke. When someone screws up their computer we threaten to take away their clicking ability so they can’t click on stuff and ruin it more.
Sister: oh shame on you for tricking me
Granted that story may not be as good as this one, but it was one of the highlights of my day.
